When You Travel Do You Like To Visit Local Supermarkets?

I do! It’s one of my “musts” when I travel anywhere. I enjoy searching for regional faves and “exotic” items that I can bring home to experiment with later. Local supermarkets are also a great place to buy gifts for your family and friends.

There’s Always Paris and Profiteroles

The brisk morning air sent a memorable chill through me as I walked the dog on our morning jaunt. The sunshine dappled through the almost changing leaves and there was that sense of seasonal change in the breeze. Nostalgia grabbed a hold of me and my thoughts turned to Paris. I visited once in early October and today reminded me of that trip. My mind flooded with all the things I cherished in that city, but between you and me, I wanted to dislike it, because everyone loves Paris, but once there, how could I object to something so wonderful!?

5 Fave Things I Found On Instagram This Week

I love lists, don’t you? In fact, I love lists so much, the Notes tab on my iPhone is always open as I’m constantly jotting down anything from grocery lists, songs I want to listen to, perfumes I want to smell, to-do lists, and appointments… you get the gist, I take notes, lots of ’em!

Florence

Romanticalism at it’s finest.
Yes, I say romanticalism—not really a word you say?
Well, it’s describing romanticism in a heightened sense—a strengthening of language.
Florence.
Ah Florence.
Where one can simply stand, enamored in it all.
The Medici’s, Leonardo, Botticelli, Giotto, Raphael.
Approaching Brunelleschi’s Duomo, an unfathomable sight, causing one to feel insignificant in size.
Sauntering across the Ponte Vecchio, pausing in view, the River Arno, outstretched.
Lunching in a quaint, corner shop, crumbs dusting the floor.
Cobbled streets, marble statues and colored facades.
Strolling hand in hand—step by step—breath by breath.
History—rebirth—Florence.

“If you aren’t quite sure what love looks like anymore, but still believe in it;

If you believe that love isn’t about making anyone stay;

If you believe that love is hearing each other’s song, yet resting contented in each other’s silence;

This story is for you:

Moneglia by Moonlight

Moneglia

A rocky beach and salty sea, lulling ashore.
Constellations alight the night sky.
A shooting star—pause—in reverence of.
Frizzante, shared between two glasses,
and a friend whose greatness is immeasurable.
A talk of life.

Ribeira, Salvador da Bahia

Salvador, Bahia.  A place with a time of its own, where popular culture is current yet the past is present, not relived—a part of life.  Filled with colonial wonders, cobblestoned streets, sandy beaches, clay-brick shacks and modern concrete apartment buildings.  Salvador a third-world city with traffic jams and crowds, is a city with soul. It’s a place one will not soon forget, the feelings that consume you while there, continue to resonate. Salvador is bright, outgoing and receives all with open arms.

Riding the Crazy Train!

Nestled in the center of Rio de Janeiro atop the hills, resides a quaint neighborhood filled with narrow streets, charmingly, antiquated buildings and art.  This would be Santa Teresa which originated around, 1750 and grew into an upperclass borough with elaborate mansions.  The upperclass vibe is no more but the old mansions are still standing.  Santa Teresa cycled from its upperclass status to that of a dangerous bohemian enclave surrounded by favelas. Today it has revitalized, preserving old homes, opening new businesses and cultivating itself as an artist hotspot.  Santa Teresa is filled with galleries, street art, great views of Rio, excellent eats and the “bodinho.”

New York Cowboys

I recently spent an afternoon warmed by sun beams in a horse pasture.  This was a very special horse pasture tended by the Bonney’s, two New York city-ites transplanted to a lackadaisical pace nestled among the mountain peaks of Gunnison, Colorado.

Agua de Coco….yes please!

My friend from Rio just informed me via the global connectedness of social media, that Unidos da Tijuca are the Samba School Champions of Rio de Janeiro’s Carnaval!!!  I was fortunate enough to be a part of this electrifying spectacle in 2011 and it was honestly an event in which I could compare to no other.  I’m talking jaw dropping effects and fantastic people watching, did I mention it lasts all night long!

A Million Miles…

A Journey…

I think it’s something about a new feeling or an experience that allows me to learn more about who I am that entices me…or as a friend of mine once said “lights a fire inside.”  When I travel I feel a renewed sense of vigor that resonates throughout my body and my eyes are as open as they’ll ever be.  Why is it that sometimes it feels as if you have to be a million miles away to reintroduce yourself to those sensations?
